How to replace a door lock

Many people are interested in how to replace a door lock set .or how to replace a door lock actuator. Toronto locksmith service provides few easy steps.

How to replace a door lock cylinder:

  1. Use a simple Philips screwdriver to remove screws from the two strike plates. attache your door edge. Now remove the strike plates from the door and Use your screwdriver to loosen them, removing the screws from the doorknob & the deadbolt's cover.

  2. Now you need to pull out both doorknobs & Pull from each side of the door both deadbolt cover plates. After this is done, remove the door latch barrel assembly and also the deadbolt assembly. These will slide out of the door edge where the strike plates were once located.

  3. Insert the door's latch barrel on and into door's edge  the lower strike plate hole. Notice there are small arrows indicating which side of the barrel is up. Now place the strike plate over the door's  latch. After this Is done, screw back to secure the strike plate. Insert your deadbolt into the door's upper hole. Make sure the deadbolt strike plate cover is over the deadbolt. screwdriver to better secure the strike plate.

  4. Place the key side of the doorknob against the exterior side of the door.  line up the screws barrels with the set screw holes in your door latch barrel assembly. face the interior doorknob on the door, lining up the set screw holes with the door latch barrel assembly holes. Now Insert two long set screws into door side holes & tighten them with your screwdriver.

  5. face the deadbolt keyed side on the exterior side of the door. line up both set screw barrels and set screw holes in the deadbolt assembly. replace the interior deadbolt cover plate on your door. Again align the set screw holes with the deadbolt assembly set  and finally Insert the two long set screws into the holes and tighte up.

  6. Remove your old strike plates from the doorjamb using your screwdriver & Install  two new strike plates by securing back the strike plates.
